Plays & Recitation

As part of our cultural preservation initiative, we have developed an early childhood collection of three books that tell the story of Halima, a young girl who has recently lost her father. Sent by her mother from their rural village to live with her aunt in Casablanca, Halima's journey of navigating her first day of school becomes an exploration of identity, resilience, and belonging.

The narrative begins in Tachelhit, one of the indigenous Amazigh languages, highlighting the linguistic and cultural richness of the Amazigh heritage. Halima, who does not speak French, faces the challenge of understanding her new environment and communicating with others. As she walks to school, she befriends a witty, street-smart cat named Hakam, who humorously translates her experiences from his perch on the windowsill of her classroom. Halima faces a significant event in class that teaches valuable lessons about kindness, resilience, and belonging—
